Read a Banned Book. This week (Sept 25-Oct 2) is Banned book week. The library website has this to say about it: "Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States." The Fresno Library has a whole suggestion list of books that have either been banned at some point in time or that people have tried to ban, but not been successful. Most of the books on the list I've already read, the rest are now on my "To Read" list.
I don't know about you, but knowing that someone doesn't want me to read a book just about guarantees that I'm going to read it.
